I posted Images 6 tonight and it's doing really well.
But...
I wrote in it a scene that relays or tries to the character Jenna going back to God and reviving her faith. The character Jenna grew up within a mixed faith home with a very Catholic Quebec born and raised mother and a step-father who was a deeply conservative Christian. This is just part of the character and part of trying to get the flavor of her down in a way that I feel fits her.
I posted a response tonight that I'm not sure of my faith. I'm not, I'm very prone to both logic and yet I love spirituality. Faith wise I have none but try to respect most of them that do as little harm as possible. I'm as much a Christian as I'm a Taoist or a Muslim or a Wiccan.
I know this is an issue here with people and I really didn't want to step into the war zone between the faithful, and the people who have differing opinions here on the site.
I've notice the comments are down from those who've been posting and I really didn't mean to offend but I'm writing about a character who grew up in that kind of upbringing and Jenna's faith is just a part of the character.
I'm not writing a story about faith, Just trying to capture the feelings of someone who has had their faith returned to them. It's not like Jenna actually tried going to a church or anything yet as her TG self and odds are she's going to have issues later on.
Anyway I'm sorry if the flavor of the scene has put people off. It's hard to write and balance things here too. I could have gotten really graphic in the sex scenes but that's not a popular choice here too on BC. I know I'm skirting the edges of things here writing these things but c'mon people is BC.

The most important thing should be the skirting right?

Bailey, don't skirt. Write what you feel like writing. If that doesn't tickle the fancy of the BC mainstream, so what?

Your writing has a lovely flavour for me and obviously lots of others. Just keep on doing what you are doing,

Joanne

If it is a key to understanding a character, his/her motivations

go for it,

Clearly religion, like politics , is a touchy subject, but with the appropriate tags in the header/title and a short explanation of why in the intro you should be fine. Some readers will be turned off but you might gain more as we better understand your story.

It is your tale after all. If you believe your character(s) need it, then use it. There particular faith, lack of it or search for what is right for them could be very revealing of their core nature.

Your beliefs are your own, and as such, are a part not only of you, but of your characters. Please write what you believe and feel. Images has been one of the most precious and comforting stories I've read, and I am glad that you chose to bless us with your talent. Thank you.

She was born for all the wrong reasons but grew up for all the right ones.

To start with...

This is a story. The characters are fictional (in general). Deal with it People!
Your faith is your own, Bailey. No one should ever have ANY kind of say in it. That has caused SO many problems. Once again, People, Deal!
I feel much as you do. I do attend a Christian church, but I have beliefs of my own. I have lived in too many places, with too many people of too many faiths, and I see value in many ways of thinking. To those who wish to make everything the same, well...
I love what you write. I read too many stories where people have completely rejected faith based on poor interpretations of faith, either their own or others. I am happy to read that Jenna, despite all she has lost because of other peoples narrow , bigoted version of religion, still has the faith to call on a higher power.
Once again, I love what you write. Write what you love, in your way. We write stories to entertain, to share parts of ourselves. If people are not comfortable with our stories, then simply don't read them, but allow us to be free to express ourselves, in our way.

With All of my heart,

Wren
