SKYPE issues.

Well, I was talking to one of my UK friends the other night and when we hung up, my computer froze. It took me several tries to restart it before I could get it running again, and along the way I figured out that either SKYPE or one of the messingers was causing the problem. In my trying to figure it out, I see that SKYPE downloaded a new version on 12/2, and after that is when the problem started.

I have no idea if it is actually SKYPE or something the government is doing, or a virus or who knows. I talk not only to people in the US, but also in the UK and Saudi Arabia. Who knows, with latest terrorisim scare in Portland, maybe I am being monitored or jammed. Or perhaps it is just something else.

I am going to try to restart now, and intercept SKYPE before it can start, and then try to figure out what the problem is.

Much peace

Khadijah

Re:skype

I had a friend look at mine and he told me that my disk drive needed cleaning up. He said thatmost people or computer repair places don't look for that. I cleaned it up and it ggot rid of corrupted files. Now skype is working on my computer.

best of everything for you,
I hope it goes well,
Cliff

I was having similar problems too with my computer freezing up...its brand new...I just bought it in April. But the problems didn't start to happen until after I downloaded SKYPE the other day. It's frozen on me twice now and seems to be running a lot slower too...I think you might be right about your SKYPE theory...I'm thinking of removing it from my computer and seeing if things will work better afterwards.

Computers still scare me!

As I've often said, my computer and I are not on a first name basis. It don't like me when I make changes. I added a secondary memory (500 gigs-I figured I needed it) but I still haven't figured out how to use it to my advantage. Arrgh!
I'm not up to the level of skill I need to be able to use Skype, so it has not (yet!) become an issue. Maybe I'll just turn my 13 year old son loose on my computer. Of course, then I would have to spend forever cleaning off the porn he would sneak onto it (Sorry TK, you scare me). Ah well. The funny thing is, my family thinks I am the tech expert in the house. What a laugh!
