Hm... won't that be two years

Hm... won't that be two years from now? 03/14/15?

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

It would depend upon how one measured...

Assuming (as we most often do) that the Earth's orbit is roughly circular, the circumference of that rough circle is roughly 2π. We omit the word ‘radians’ to conform to modern practice. Half of that would be π, which is roughly Midsommer's Day, so it's not too late! Book your reservations today!

What date?

Greetings

You have it all wrong.

Tomorrow, well actually today, is the fourteenth day of the third month in the year 2013, according to the Common Era calendar.

at an precisely-defined instant of today, it was 3/14 15:00, which are the numbers associated with pi to four decimal places, more accurate than our definitions of 'pi' for many thousands of years. If one substitutes decimal time, one can have as many places as one desires. Let's call it a memorial rather than an exactitude.

There are enough people who believe in Pi Day that they have an organisation, so should have at least as much courtesy shown to them as any religious adherent, since the followers of Pi can at least point to 'signs and portents' in the present day.

Famous Dish from an Island in Polynesia

I hope I can remember this, it is from a long time ago. There was this famous Gourmet, who was researching for a book the best dishes from all parts of the World, and he had heard sailors bragging about this polynesian island where they had the most exciting and fantastic tasting dish in the whole wide world, so he travelled there (the orginal version goes on for a long time decribing the hazards of his travelling there, as this was before the days of jet airliners and GPS and all that) but eventually he lands there, in an outrigger canoe that collected him from the sailing ship that brought him there. Wading ashore, his socks and trousers soon dry in the warm sun, and he ambles into the local Bistro and enquires about the famous local dish, Poi, and did they have any on the menu.

"You want Apple Poi or Pork Poi ?" the Waitor asks....... :)

Sorry.

For some purposes, 22 July is just as good an approximation as March 14.

Well as Justtin Wilson would say!

A child came home from a school somewhere in the bayous of Louisiana. The child's father said, "Child, come here and speak me some math!" The child was of the obedient sort (a good thing in Louisiana) and stood in front of the father. "Pi r square" The father was incensed and said so, "Pie aren't square, Pie are round. Cornbread are squared."
