My Muse’s Tale of Abduction
Just when I thought I would never see my muse again, she came back home, having hitched a lift from a friendly spaceship that, for some reason, looked like a very large tennis shoe.
And this is the story she brought with her . . .
My muse said, “Late one night, while I was wishing on a star, down from the sky, came a man in a car. He said ‘I’m Amos, get in Bellion, come on let's go for a ride’”
“And what did you respond?” I asked.
“I told him ‘Out of sight!’ and jumped in, of course”
“Then what happened?” I asked.
“Well, he introduced me to his computer, Helva, and she fixed me up a bit for the journey.”
“You mean . . . “
“Yep, full transition, no waiting.”
“Lucky girl! So what happened next?”
“Well, we played cards on Venus, sunbathed on Mercury, and jammed on Jupiter. Then I realized it was getting late, and asked for a ride home from a friend of his. Of course, I got Amos’ phone number, but I don’t think I can call him often, its a real long distance fare for that kind of a call”
“Cute.” I responded, and then I asked, “So are you back for a while?”
“Unless his friend’s ship does something. He called it an Improbability Drive, which I guess means anything can happen.”
“I think you’ve had one of those all along!” I said.
She just blushed . . .
End?
