The Equinox has passed, the sun is out and things are starting to green!

That said, the strong westerlies are keeping temperatures down to barely double figures but the washing has reached the line for the first time since @ October!

On Monday i took myself for a walk along the Frome valley, treating myself to a bacon & egg sarnie at the snack bar. I went via the PO, a parcel for my GS for Easter - he'll have plenty of chocolate so it was a selection of Haribo and a couple of small toys to keep him occupied until his birthday a week afterwards! I got a little damp but seemed to have recovered from Saturdays epic quite well.

Yesterday, well the forecast suggested strong westerly winds again but otherwise dry and bright so, in an effort to garner a tailwind i decided to head to Clevedon for a burger. Well they were right about the wind but i got caught in a couple of squalls before i even crossed the Avon on the exposed M5 bridge. It did dry up and by the time i reached the popular burger bar it was sunny and feeling reasonably warm out of the wind. It was a 'healthy' burger, chicken with a pile of salad, however tempting a full on beef burger was!

I set off for the return sans headwear and without the top coat, a gew lanes later and my route swung around to give me that bit of assistance we all crave. I hadn't expected the ride to go much above 70km but i found myself going as far as Bath before looping back which topped me out with 101km and a surprising 845 vertical gain. I guess its only a matter of a couple of weeks before i'll be breaking the legs out and retiring the thermals until the autumn.

Its a similar day today, hence the laundry being air dried rather than machined dry, everything just smells that much better and of course its more economical! Its also time to seriously look at getting the garden in order, the beds are mostly weed free so today i thought i'd best lift the last of the parsnips that, tbh, i'd forgotten about. They were a bit underwhelming when we lifted them in December but after a bit of a battle i lifted several more impressive tubers, the biggest @ 15" long and weighing @ a kilo! Altogether there is probably 5kg of the things so i guess there will be parsnips on the menu for the next couple of weeks!

My hand is 8" from wrist to finger tip!

I'll go out for some bread after lunch and maybe make a start on my new aparagus bed and plant the early lettuce.

Thats all for today, i'll be back at the weekend,
Byee,
Madeline Anafrid
