I just got back from getting checked out at my local hospital. I had a lot of pain in my stomach , and so decided to get it looked at. Just some bruising from work, so that was a relief, but I got really tired of being called by my male name when my preferred name is listed on my chart ....

Glad to hear it's nothing serious

But yeah they can be real jerks about that in hospitals and in government offices. That's why one of the first things I did when I decided to transition was to legally change my name. Spending time in any of those places is stressful enough without them adding to it by constantly referring to you as the wrong name and gender.

I hope you're feeling better soon Dorothy.

Don't take me too seriously. I'm just kitten around. :3

Unfortunately...

Even that isn't 100% since gov't agencies don't seem to know how to talk to each other.

I'm having to RE-PROVE I'm Abigail every single time I turn around. And changed social security card and driver's license isn't sufficient. No. They want me to prove the name change itself. Just that I'm Abigail, and my social security number is what I claim it is is not sufficient. They need to KNOW who I used to be. Bastards.

Abigail Drew.

Why?

"Professional" does not mean "clueful", "compassionate", "open", or even "decent human being". It just means a level of directed education and skill, in a single area (the area that the 'professional' label applies to).

Glad your ok!

Better safe then sorry.

Good at being doctor/nurse does not mean not a jerk.
