Habitat Destruction
Perhaps this explains why a "civilized, right thinking" species seem so bent on destroying the habitat of the animal kingdom???

I just hate it when someone sights "facts" without substantiating them with sources. This isn't the first time I've heard this information but it would be nice to show a credible source to back it up.

Homosexual behavior in animals Go down to the bottom of the article for a screenful or two of sources.
A little work with Google produces several more lists of sources, some redundant, some questionable. Haven't seen any disputant ones that aren't based on religious text or personal rant, though.
I've had dogs most of my life and the little buggers (word used advisedly) are always up to something. ::grin::
Cats, horses, sheep, mice, I've seen them all engage in behavior that would get them burned at the stake in some times and places. And that actually happened to animals on occasion when someone could not resolve the unity of Nature and God correctly.

Mr Morford is a humorous columnist, not a scientist. As pointed out by others, the facts behind the column are easy to find, but I read his columns all the time because they usually cheer me up, even in the world we have.

My roommate was recently visiting her sister in the prairies. Her sister has four cats all of whom have had their visit to the vet.
One of the two male cats is constantly trying to mount the other male cat and shows zero interest in the female cats. The other male cat isn't the least bit interested in the amorous male cat's advances and spend a good portion of his time avoiding his persistent suitor. His preferred companion is one of the females.
When I was a kid I had a neutered male cat that was often on the receiving end of advances from un-neutered males. I don't think he enjoyed the attention from the toms, but he was a big old softy and didn't like fighting unless he was backed into a corner and had no choice.
