Well, last night I got to work a little early, and there was a teen girl who works as a cashier on the evening shift in the back on a break who decided completely out of the blue that I was just the right person to ask for advice about a boy at school.

I listened, and thought, and then gave her my advice:

Be yourself.

Be awesome, be real, be smart, be goofy, be nerdy, be super feminine or a tomboy when the mood strikes you.

Dont try and impress him.Try and impress yourself.

Dont be afraid to take the first move but be prepared that he could reject you.

Be okay with that.

Dont define yourself by who you date or if you're single.

Have a life so full you dont need another person to fill it, instead be so overflowing it splashes over anyone who chooses to be around you.

Be happy being friends with him and then if he wants to be more dont stop being friends.

And then no matter what, the relationship will be based on the real you, not a mask or a game you played to try and "land" him.

And if he doesnt like the person you actually are, you're better off.

Not only will you end up with a better class of boyfriend, but you will be a better girlfriend when the time comes.

Or be a better person even if you dont have a partner.

So, what do you guys think of my advice?

Great advice

If you don't mind, I'll remember this so that I can pass it on to my kids and their kids. It makes so much sense.

Thank you Dorothy.

Probably nothing

Probably nothing there she didn't already know, it's just so hard to remember that simple advice. Well, done, Dorothy.

Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Hmmmm.

Wish I had known that when I was younger, or at least listened if someone tried to tell me. Great job Dorothy.

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

It sounds like....

Sound advise to me Dottie, Definately sound words to live by, well done. (Hugs) Taarpa

Best advice that you could give her, or anybody else.
