Tuck Squared is a fanfic by Rachel Greenham based on the Tuck Saga created by Ellen Hayes. There's also a sequel currently appearing on Ellen's site. It's actually based on an alternate Tuck storyline Ellen wrote called "Tuck Season" which is based on Tuck in the Aunt Jane / Seasons universe created by Joel Lawrence and further illuminated by Tigger and others. Complicated? Yeah, but fun....

- Erin

Months after returning from her summer spent at Jane's academy, Valerie Tucker finds herself thrown into a parallel world; one where Tuck is trying to erase everything of Valerie from his life, and where, after a tragedy Valerie had not been there to avert, Jane broods alone in a dark and empty house.

Reading in 2023

Amazing!!! Just Amazing story...

Reading it in 2023... Where Ellen has not finished the series, and I was depressed not getting any closure.

But now That I read this.... I feel content... Complete and at peace.... So many things got closure... Ellen's both timelines. Superb.
I will read the Taken now.

Thank you for this lovely story!

Sephy, Thanks For

Brringing this Classic back and her otheer stories as well.

In a way...

I like these almost more than either the original Tuck or the Seasons fic. I think partly down to the lack of minutiae that Ellen includes in Tuck.

That isn't to say I don't like Tuck, Old Seasons (which I read before it was updated) and the new parts of seasons that Ellen has been working on recently. In fact I think it is my favourite series on 'teh interwebz'. But this does make an interesting counterpoint and one I re-read now with a great deal of tears and laughter.

Got to ask though, how is 'The Taken' progressing, I seem to remember it didn't conclude. Does Valerie get home?

Rachel, I Have Some Questions About Tuck Squared

1. Valerie states to Eugene that she has made the transition. Does that mean that she had the operation or that she decided to become Valerie full-time? 2. Where is it stated that Debbie had a child? 3. Does Valerie still have the nightmares that Eugene does? 4. Was Valerie babysitting the Parker kids before she was brought across, if not, how was she making money? 5. Are Valerie and : Mike, Debbie, and Travis lovers? 6. Where exactly did Val go when she was Taken? 7. Assuming that Valerie had the operation, was it before or after she and Mike installed the security system for Aunt Jane? 8. Was the bill made out to D & E Enterprises or to Mike or Valerie?

Just this once...

Rachel Greenham's picture

1: She's living as Valerie full time; no surgery of any kind has taken place. (Too important not to mention; if it had, I'd have clearly mentioned it.)

2: Nowhere.

3: Not the same ones.

4: She'd babysat for the Parkers only once or twice before being sent to boot camp (at which she never arrived) for the summer. The start of Tuck Season shows Tuck being pissed off at the lost income; and getting the promise of a laptop from Dad as compensation *if* she sticks it out there. She earns money later in the summer doing some work for Jane.

5: Valerie and Debbie are still lovers, as of the start of this story; Travis was just someone she dated a couple of times (under pressure from Debbie and Lisa) before the summer. Mike's Valerie's brother, not lover. ew!

6: She wasn't.

7: Bad assumption. But that security system is where she earned the money for her motorcycle.

8: Good question, though not a very important one. Maybe Ellen will answer it one day.

Rachel Im Amazed

... there hasnt been many comments on your Tuck Squared story. Its simply great! Lots less foul language and a lot like Tuck was written! Very creative, It moved, it worked, and there were many moments where Tuck shined through as if Ellen herself were scripting it. I did notice you were a little afraid of William Tucker's and Brians personae but you cant be perfect on everything and they were not necessarily important for this story to work. If Ellen's Tuck were to head the direction you mapped even a little, it would be a good thing. Sarah and Valerie having a mother daughter moment was something I was dying to see in Ellens. It may yet happen. There are still a lot of tricks up her sleeves to pull so Sephy might get her wish to have Valerie at peace with herself family and friends. To be whole as the FEMALE she is inside and out!

The idea of Debbie having Mike's child was something I admit not having thought of but I am not against. I have thought of maybe substituting Ellen herself instead of Aunt Jane. Aunt Ellen's Academy for the Deviously Gifted. Instead of 'petticoat punishment' how about 'electronic etiquette'. Having to dress in "geek mode' and how to hack or attack electronic systems with grace. Might make a good parody short ?

Simply put Rachel, this is fantastic. MAJOR like Hugs!
