Home Alone. Something weird is happening!

Strange things are happening. It's not Halloween. There isn't a full moon. Nasty beasties, as far as I know are not roaming 'out there'.

But I'm puzzled and perplexed. Something is not right with the world. Things may not be as they seem.

Why?

Well, Home Alone Book 2 ~ Moving on ~ Chapter 7 has had no less than 941 hits, but and this is the strange bit, Chapter 8 has had 1001 hits!

This is akin to Watching Dallas series 4 (The one where JR got shot, before the last episode of series 3, telling you why the bugger got shot in the first place.

Perhaps it's also similar to eating the pudding before the starters.

Is there a conspiracy? Are things not quite right? Is butter better than margarine? Are the 60 extra hits on Chapter 8 significant? Am I paranoid?

Who knows. All I can say is, don't always trust the figures. Things may be happening that we don't know about.

Hugs and shivers.

Sue, Sue, Sue, or so the lawyer said.

Maybe people like even numbers?

Maybe the counts are all an illusion like when Bobby Ewing returned to the series after being gone for a year, your missing hits will walk out of the shower and "It was all a dream."

Keep writing, great stuff, all your work even though the 2007 Halloween story had me confused. Entertained but confused but then that's horror I suppose.

P.S. I have been politely corrected, it was Slartybartfast who says it to Arthur Dent on the planet Magrathea. At least I knew it was Arthur who was being spoken to. Thanks RAS

I'm concerned myself

I noticed a similar strangeness on my dribble Sue (but with much smaller numbers). I think someone out there is trying to play with our minds, and I don't know about you, but I'm worried! (In my case, part 4 has about 10% more readers than part 3 did.)

I figured that people knew that nothing important was happening yet in mine, so skipped some. If you don't want your well deserved (I'm enjoying your story btw) extra hits... :-)

Someone once said that numbers don't lie, people do. Someone ELSE said that thay could find numbers that said anything they wanted. Should we be worried... I don't know about you but I am only thankful that today (Friday) is the 14th and not the 13th!

Cheers,

What seems to be happening is with the growth of the audience here, new people open the newest episode, click back to earlier episodes and then read forward, ending up with more clicks on the later eps. :)

Same here

Camp Kumoni Chapter 2 had almost 100 hits more than chapter 1. I thought I was going nuts as well....... but I think Erin has described what has happend. Camp Kumoni chapter 1 is now with only a couple of hits of Chapter 2.

I also think it has something to do wtih how many comments are left. Some readers go back and read comments after they left theirs, and I think that adds to the number of hits.

Also sometimes if a chapter is long, a person might have to leave and then come back to it which causes hits.

A.A.

More hits

It also depends how quickly a person reads the story. They might start the chapter and get interrupted and then come back to it later. By re-opening it another hit is generated.

I'm just glad I get the hits I do. 1000 hits is very good in such a short time - if only I could get that number in such a short period.

Hugs
