I Really Am A Boy

I Really Am A Boy!
With thanks to the Who. One wonders if it was really written with this in mind.

One girl was called Jean Marie. Another little girl was called Felicity
Another little girl was Sally Joy. The other was me, and I'm a boy
My name is Bill, and I'm a head case, they practice making up on my face
Yeah, I feel lucky if I get trousers to wear, spend evenings taking hairpins from my hair

My sisters were the bane of my life, insisting that they could dress me like their own, personal, Barbie Doll. It was terrible for me as I had to try to look like the boy I was when I went to school. I got ribbed on a good day, bullied on a bad one.

I'm a boy, I'm a boy
But my ma won't admit it
I'm a boy, I'm a boy
But if I say I am, I get it

Whenever I complained to my mother she always had the same speech. “You are a girl, Miss Violet Willow. I will have no more of your stupidity.”

Put your frock on, Jean Marie, plait your hair, Felicity
Paint your nails, little Sally Joy, put this wig on, little boy
I want to play cricket on the green, ride my bike across the street
Cut myself and see my blood, I want to come home all covered in mud

I can cut myself any time I want, I just have to draw this razor blade across my arm and I see my wonderful red boys blood seeping out. If I ever grow tits they will be the first to go when I get old enough. That’ll show them that I really am Bill.

Who?

I can’t believe it goes back to 1966! It probably went over my head then.

Thanks for the memory.

I really am a boy

I have to say that when I first read this one it was on FM so my thought was the song was more likely forced feminization or mom wanting all girls. Of course I was familiar with the song long before I read the story so I had preconceptions.

Time is the longest distance to your destination.

Powerful, though one nitpick

“You are not a girl, Miss Violet Willow. I will have no more of your stupidity.”
I believe you meant "You are not a boy Miss Violet Willow. I will have no more of your stupidity."

I know who I am, I am me, and I like me ^^
Transgender, Gamer, Little, Princess, Therian and proud :D

Damn auto correct, should

Damn auto correct, should have been a question mark at the end of the sentence. Fixed now.

Born in late 80's, I grew up

Born in late 80's, I grew up in the 90's and 00's and loved the who. I got into listening to them by my dad who loved them and my dad said I used to love this song as a kid. Although I feel I'm a girl and my ma won't admit it lol

Aren't girls allowed to do this?

Aren't girls allowed to do this these days? I guess that GIRLs aren't, though. (In this case, boys whom their family is determined to feminize.)

EDIT: "put this wig on, little boy". Doesn't this give the lie to, “You are a girl, Miss Violet Willow. I will have no more of your stupidity”?

From what my dad told me

KateElizabethSuhr13's picture

From what my dad told me years back is this song is part of a failed concept album Pete Townshend had where in the future you could choose the gender like ordering food except she chose 4 girls and got 3 girls and a boy so she tried forcing the boy to be a girl.

My Mistake

"Doesn't this give the lie to...?" I should have known better. Of course it does. And of course, Mom will deny ever having said that -- even if called out about it immediately after she says it. If the boy ever dares to shout out "liar" or something comparably defiant, Mom would take it out of him, remembering that "pain is marvelous purifier."

ouch
