NHS services for children's gender identity can't cope with demand.

According to an article, children's services are overwhelmed by demand from youngsters who are uncertain about their gender. It is problematic for the youngsters who may develop other issues while having to wait 2 years or more for an initial appointment. However, things might eventually improve as a study has suggested that there need to be more regional hubs to deal with it involving a range of doctors and therapists who wouldn't otherwise be associated.

Late again

So I didn’t forget you all nope, I’m just a bit weary. Why I don’t here you ask? Well I’ll tell you anyway.

I hinted at a trip the other day and that has come to fruition. Yep, after best part of 3 years I’m finally on a mini bike trip. It’s nothing grand, today I rode down from Bristol to Somerset’s other seaside resort, Minehead. It’s not a huge distance, a mere 120km, but with the strong winds and latterly a few steep climbs, it’s been quite a tough day.

Scottish gender recognition reform bill - JK Rowling

The Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill will amend the Gender Recognition Act 2004 to introduce new criteria for applicants who wish to obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).

Obtaining a GRC means a trans person is legally recognised in their acquired gender and can obtain a new birth certificate showing that gender.

The Bill will require applicants to make a legally binding declaration that they intend to live permanently in their acquired gender. They will no longer need to provide medical reports or evidence.

Doctor Bart van de Ven

I am deeply saddened to say that I have been advised that Doctor Bart van de Ven, an internationally recognised maxillofacial surgeon specialising in facial feminisation surgery has very recently and suddenly passed away. Whilst many people may not be familiar with Doctor Bart, he was well known here in Europe and had set up the 2pass clinic in the Netherlands.

His website and business is still currently running (https://2pass.clinic/en).

Books Now Available on Kindle

I've been asked by a number of readers when I'm going to publish my books to Amazon. I've had reasons for holding out, but decided to go ahead and do it this weekend. I'm not publishing to the Kindle Unlimited format simply because it would mean pulling down all of my works from free sites like this one - something I don't have a desire to do.

What gives these arseholes the right to kill?

An article from the Guardian details the murder of a Kurdish transgender woman by her brother, who may well get away with it.

It strikes me as perverse that it's acceptable to murder someone for being themselves but not for someone to live as they feel comfortable. This young woman was doing nothing to hurt anyone, so why kill her? The term honour killing is bizarre, it's a disgraceful killing and the disgrace is for the people who perpetrate and condone such murders. Shame on them.

Forced Gender Reassignment True?

There are always urban myths about this subject, and of course thousands of fictional stories. The story of Sporus who was turned into a woman for Nero seems to be an historical fact.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sporus

I had know that Thailand did the most operations. What surpried me was that Iran came second. This is not due Iran being a "go to" place for operations. It's due to gay men having to claim to be transexual to avoid prosecution or even execution.

Amy Schneider ‘Jeopardy!’ success

Please read BOTH links

" Schneider is also the first woman to amass more than $1 million on the program, making her the most successful female contestant and the most successful transgender contestant of all time."

“‘Jeopardy!’ has been a boys’ club ... and a lot of it is about all the messages that you get from society that this isn’t what women do. That women don’t know things,” Schneider says.

News & Fiction

A member of the British aristocracy has been in the news media rather a lot recently and it took me a moment to remember that I had included a very minor scene in one of the stories that included the name of said person. Today that's been airbrushed out of the story.

I don't remember having to do this before, but I guess it might happen again as my stories live in the Real World (tm)

Amy Schneider

Amy won again today on Jeopardy. She is the first transgender contestant to have this much success -- closing in on $1 million in total winnings.

It is her serenity as much as her amazing knowledge base that makes her so much fun to watch.

Today - at a crucial point of the contest, an answer she gave was judged wrong. She is rarely wrong. I turned to my spouse and said, "They've got to correct that! Her answer was just as correct as the answer they said was correct." About five minutes later, they corrected their error and gave her credit for the answer.

April Ashley has died

The second British MtF to receive 'sex-change' surgery. She lived a chaotic life of peaks and troughs including the disgraceful divorce case where the establishment, including the leading UK gender psychiatrist almost destroyed her. She will be remembered as a beautiful and charismatic woman who campaigned for transgender rights and was awarded an MBE. May she rest in peace.

Advice to Judges in England and Wales

An article from the Guardian reporting that the 'equal treatment benchbook,' published by the Judicial College suggests more protection for trans people when in court including prevention of revealing original names and genders unless relevant to the case in point and the use of preferred names and genders where possible.

I would hope there aren't that many of us up in front of the judge, but who knows.
