Candice made it home promptly at seven while I was finishing preparations for supper. As she was late tonight she had missed her ride and took a cab which bothered her just as much as their expense did me.

“Fifteen minutes.” I told her just after we kissed our greetings. I was wrong though, it was closer to twenty.

After supper Candy and I retired to the living room so I could help her review her lines for tomorrow. It wasn’t until around ten that we began to move everything I had brought home from the stores out of our bedroom and into the room I used for my computers and office.

A few decades later, another slumber party is crashed, and a few more boys find themselves unwilling participants.

It turned out that they'd hurried through the makeover so they could take me out to lunch. The idea was to throw me, ready or not, as much into life as possible.

"You're not going to learn anything sitting in a room with Janey and me," Marcus explained. "You've got to go out and make a complete ass of yourself. It's the only way to learn."

"I don't want to make a complete ass of myself!" I protested.

"Oh!" Marcus replied. "Then you're in the wrong line of work. Perhaps you should run for Congress instead."
